Ampleforth Monastery

Founded in 1802, Ampleforth Monastery is an extraordinarily beautiful building in historic York and home to a community of more than 55 monks. We are absolutely thrilled to be chosen to work on such an important building.

This project is a real feather in our cap - Storm were chosen because of our proven track record with working on important and historic buildings and, of course, one of the key aspects of this project will be ensuring the work that we carry out does not interfere with the day-to-day life of the monastery.

We were commissioned to fit around 150 windows into this extraordinary building and so far, we’ve fitted a selection of horizontal sliding units and slimline units on to the third floor of the building and we will also have completed the second floor by the end of this month. We’re delighted to report that the client is thrilled with the work done to-date and are already seeing the benefits of warmer living quarters.

Phase 2 of the project will start shortly, so we’ve got some more measuring and then further surveys to do this in the next coming months when the larger part of the project will start to unfold. Phase 2 will take some planning

One of the challenges of the project has been meeting tight deadlines and as the monks have been relocated for the renovation period they keen to move back into their accommodation as soon as possible. We’ve been able to achieve this much to the client’s satisfaction and we can’t wait to go back to this unique project.
