George’s pedal power brings charity boost

What better way is there of raising some cash for some amazing charities than by going to the pub?

Sounds simple doesn’t it? But for our director George Parkes, a fantastic effort has seen him visiting not one pub, but nine, all in the name of boosting some wonderful organisations. George was one of around 30 avid fundraisers who recently cycled around 40 miles to different pubs to help Macmillan Cancer Support and Mary Stevens Hospice. His good friend Ian Taylor is the brains behind the event.

George says: “Everyone is aware what a valuable contribution Macmillan Cancer Support makes to our society - our group of cyclists are only too happy to gather sponsorship for such a worthy cause! Mary Stevens Hospice is also of paramount interest to us as it is so local and consequently it felt like a natural choice for further sponsorship as every year they require £2.8 million from the public to enable them to provide the care and invaluable service they offer.

We should imagine that cycling from pub to pub is thirsty work - so how convenient to have a bar at hand each time you rest! Especially one in the much-loved Black Country Bathams chain. Each of the Bathams pubs is steeped in character and history.

But the Bathams 9 cycling initiative is a serious business founded in 2003 - and aims to raise £100,000 by the end of 2018.

Everyone at Storm Windows would like to say a massive ‘well done’ to George and his fellow cycling enthusiasts for such a brilliant fundraising effort.

You don’t have to get on your bike to support Macmillan and Mary Stevens Hospice.
