Meet the Team - Shaun Tibbetts, Glass Cutter and Window Assembler
He has been with us for 15 years, and is an integral part of our expert team. Here, he explains what he does, and why he enjoys it so much!
My main role involves cutting the glass by hand for all of our ‘out of square’ and shaped window. As you can imagine, dealing with listed properties, this involves lots of the windows which pass through production. Once the glass has been cut by hand it then has to go to be toughened off site.
I also assist with the assembly of the window frames and the glazing of the units. As the surveyors measure to such tight tolerances, accuracy during production is essential to ensure a correct fit.
My favourite part of the job is cutting the more challenging shapes in the glass. Working in historic buildings such as churches requires a lot of skill due to the intricate window shapes.
I also occasionally assist with the installation of windows on site, if they are particularly large and require an extra pair of hands which is great as I get to see the finished unit installed in place.
